(2) Purchase bayonet with rifle to assure proper fit. (3) Purchase canteen plain without cover, cork string or strap. Ask for chain hole on sling strap to be left off. (4) This kit includes a tan jean cloth cover, hemp cork string and linen sling. We gather these components from different sources and keep a supply of kits on hand. (5) Ask for the wire bail to be attached using two holes drilled in the cup to make it look like a field modification. (6) Purchase either the Family Heirloom ($95) or Keagy Noble ($125) blanket. The latter is hand-stitched. (7) Specify the infantry version (“Gum Blanket”) version #319 without the center slit. (8) The two-panel version is acceptable, and less expensive. (9) Turned wood pegs. Four needed for a shelter half, six for a full tent. (10) Optional in lieu of the knapsack. These are the two straps that attach the overcoat to the top of the knapsack. They will be necessary to tie up the blanket roll if no knapsack is being used. |
